A loan of $1,000 helped to buy unfinished pots and pans to fire and later sell in the market.

Arturo's story

Arturo is 33 years old and a high school graduate. He is single, lives with his mother and two siblings who also work as artisans like he does.

Arturo provides service grinding corn, something he has been doing for 12 years. He learned this on by his own initiative as he had a neighbor who had three mills and Arturo used to watch him in order to learn the work he does today. In addition, during his free time he works as an artisan making pots and pan, something he has done since he was 12 years old. The corn mill is 500 meters from his home and he goes by foot to work. He works 3:00 AM - 7:00 AM in the morning, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM midday, and 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM in the afternoon.

The loan he seeks is to buy unfinished pots and pans that he then fires and distributes in the city market, enabling him to obtain greater economic income.

Arturo wants to open an artisan market in the town, with the support of his mother and siblings who also work as artisans and make different styles of products to sell to the tourists that visit the area.

The loan will enable him to purchase more materials to then sell in the market and obtain greater income; he will invest the earnings in more merchandise with the goal of expanding his business.
