A loan of $800 helped to increase his stock.

Peter's story

Peter is 48 years old and lives in the town of Namutumba in Uganda. He is married and has eight children who are all currently in school. For the past two years, Peter has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells sugar, milk and bread.

To help expand his business, Peter has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to increase his stock, and will help Peter to generate greater profits and increase his income. Peter hopes that in the future he will be able to have a wholesale shop.

Peter is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Peter who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
