A loan of $300 helped pay for the University tuition fees of his son.

Mang's story

Mang is a 60-year-old man and a responsible father of six children. He is involved in the agriculture businesses, and he raises pigs and farms rice. He has been in this business for years with some help from his children and wife. His wife, who shares the goal of developing their living standard and helping their children in their future education, contributes her income earned by weaving baskets to sell in local markets of the province. Recently their son, Raksmey aged 18 (pictured), graduated from high school and passed his exam with grade C. Raksmey wants to continue his chemistry studies at Royal University of Phnom Penh. He loves to study in this field and wants to become a high school chemistry teacher.

At this time, Mang has applied for a loan to pay for the university tuition fees of his son. With this loan, he can now accommodate the expenses of his son. Raksmey, pictured here, will be furthering his education with the funds from this loan. His father, who is not included in the picture, is applying for the loan from Kiva and will be responsible for principal repayments. He thanks lenders for distributing their funds in a program like Kiva via its partner HKL to push students to get better education.
