Ly's story

Mrs. Ly O. is a 53-year-old seller who sells groceries in Korkthlork Commune, Chykreng District, in the Siem Reap Province. She typically earns about 10,000 Riel (US$2.5) per day. Her husband, Mr. Sharin Soun, a 65-year-old farmer, earns approximately 4,000 Riel (US$1.00) per day. He has four children living in the family’s home. Two of his children are married, and one daughter is a garment worker in Phnom Penh City.

Mrs. Ly would like to request a loan of 2,000,000 Riel (US$500) to purchase more grocery stocks to sell. She will use the remainder of the loan to purchase a plot of farmland to expand their farming business. The loan allows her to improve her business to sustain her family's daily income.
