A loan of $875 helped to buy guinea pigs, chickens, and animal feed.

Gladys Beatriz's story

Gladys has been a member of the Arco Iris credit group for the past four years. During this time, the loans that she has received have improved her business and her economic stability. She lives near the Turi parish in Cuenca. This parish is known as the scenic overlook since, from its highest point, most of the town can be observed. This location is a big tourist attraction. Many of the residents raise animals or work in agriculture. Others work in the city in different sectors.

Gladys is 38 years old, is married, and has three children with her husband. Her two oldest daughters are twins and are in their twenties. One of them is married and lives on her own and the other works to cover her personal expenses. Her third daughter is 12 years old and studies at a high school in the city. Her husband works as a bricklayer. They live in their own home.

Gladys is a woman who makes sacrifices every day to get ahead with her family and her home. She works Mondays through Fridays as a house cleaner and she also raises guinea pigs, chickens, and cattle. She also grows food, which she uses at home and also sells.

She is going to invest the loan in the purchase of guinea pigs, chickens, and animal feed to grow her business. Her goal is to finish construction on her home.
