A loan of $2,925 helped a member to buy wholesale merchandise.

Las Orquideas Group's story

The communal bank LAS ORQUIDEAS (The Orchids) is made up of eight members: six women and two men, who make their livings in different areas. The president of the bank is Ana, who is 63. She makes a living in the retail business, offering a variety of products from kitchen items to products that vary according to season - but only plastic items. She delivers her merchandise by visiting sales stalls and residences, since she sells her products on credit. Ana lives in a home in the Tembladerani zone of the city of La Paz. This is her first loan cycle with this institution. Ana will use this loan to purchase merchandise, since she has many orders, and in this way she can increase her working capital. The reason she is requesting this loan is to purchase merchandise. Ana faces challenges in her business, such as the demand for new products, and she is going to use the profits to provide better customer service by buying varied products. Ana feels happy and grateful to the institution for the support it has offered her by granting her this loan.
