A rural villager from Ksach Kandal province, Bunthy is 46 years old and married. She is blessed with four children who still rely on her as they are in school. To meet her family's needs, Bunthy grows rice as her main source of income while her husband works in construction. She has been in her current business for several years and earns almost $7.50 per day. She is requesting her fifth loan from VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) after repaying her first four. The positive impact of her loans has allowed her to provide a decent life to her children and keep them in school. She is requesting a new loan to pay her daughter's tuition so she can get a bachelor's degree in accounting. She hopes that this financial support will allow her daughter to pay more attention to her studies and get a good job after she graduates.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
