Meet 50-year-old Ramatu from Waterloo2 Eastern area in Freetown. She is widowed with 5 children. She began her business because she wants to be self-dependent. In 2002, Ramatu established her general stock business. She works at the business 9 hours per day, every day. She says that the main challenges to her business are price inflation and insufficient capital to expand her business.

Ramatu requires a loan in order to purchase more items like cigarettes, biscuits, soap and pure water. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to increase her business and have a permanent business location. In the future, Ramatu plans to own the biggest shop in the community.
