A loan of $725 helped to hire local workers to work in her fields.

Renilda's story

Renilda is 28 years old. She is married to Alejandro and has a daughter who lives with her in a home they rent. Ever since she was very young, Renilda helped her parents with different farming chores. As years went by she decided to make this business her main source of income for her family's financial growth. She took on her mother's role along with her husband, and together they work from sunrise to sunset maintaining and producing organic cacao. She says she likes her work because it is a job her family can carry out together.

Since it is the reainy season, she decided it would be beneficial to start weeding her land sooner in order to prevent weeds from competing for nutrients with her cacao trees. She wants to do this with help from additional workers in order to get the job done more quickly.

This is her second loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the opportunity she needs in order to keep going. She also promises to pay her installments on time. This second time around she wants to have 2,000 nuevos soles in order to hire local workers.
