Andrei is in the wedding business. Among the services he offers are transportation for the wedding cortege, setting up halls, organizing buffets and decorating churches where the wedding ceremony is held. Since Andrei’s business has no competition in Drogobych, he has many orders and the demand is relentless. Although Andrei is very busy and works very hard, he cannot save up enough money to keep his house warm, which he and his family have long needed.

To do the repairs, Andrei needs 20,000 hriven to insulate the house, where the temperature gets unbearably low during the winter. Because the walls are thin and don’t hold the heat well, it’s difficult to heat the house, and his little 3 year-old daughter often gets really cold. With a loan from Kiva, Andrei hopes to install plastic foam, which is reasonably effective and the most obtainable insulating material. Andre loves his family very much and is always trying to keep them comfortable and ensure a decent life for his loved ones.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
