A loan of $525 helped a member to buy condiments for sale.

Benkadi Group's story

The BENKADI group consists of five married women who average 36 years of age and four children each. They live in extended traditional families in the district of NIEBALA, city of Bougouni. They know one another as neighbors and friends, and through their business activities. They joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution to strengthen their working capital and better conduct their activities. This is their 2nd loan cycle with the MFI. The first loan was correctly repaid. These women sell condiments. BALAKISSA, in the center of the photo, plans to use her loan to buy 2 cartons of various bouillon cubes from the Bamako wholesalers. She conducts her sales at retail, from her home and at the market, cash or credit, to a clientele consisting essentially of women. She expects to earn an average monthly profit of 15,000FCFA, which she will use to repay her loan and to invest in her activity.
