Fatmata's story

Meet Fatmata, She is a 31-year-old from the Waterloo Easten area in Freetown. She is married with three children between the ages of 8 and 13. Two of her children are currently attending school. For the past ten years, Fatmata has sold general merchandise business from her house. She began her business because she wanted to change her living status; she works at the business from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm, seven days per week. She says that the main challenge to this business is that during the rainy season, sales are very slow.

Fatmata requires a loan in order to purchase milk, sugar, cigarettes, soap, and drinks for resale. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to become more successful and improve her standard of living. In the future, Fatmata plans to open another out let.
