The Mahutin Group is made up of three women who all live in the same neighbourhood. The group representative is Amélie (seen in the photo with her hand raised). Amélie is 37 years old and attended primary school. She is married to Dominique and they have four children. The children all attend school and the couple are responsible for them all. Amélie lives with her husband and their children and together they provide for the expenses of their household.

To do this, Amélie sells various food products (canned foods, pasta products,sugar, etc) locally. In order to improve her business and meet the needs of her customers, she is requesting a third loan with the other members of the Mahutin Group. This loan has been requested from the field partner, Alidé. Their previous loans have all been fully repaid.

Le groupe MAHUTIN est composé de trois personnes qui résident dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe, nommée Amélie (celle qui a la main levée sur la photo) est âgée de 37 ans. Amélie a fréquenté l’école jusqu'au niveau primaire. Amélie est mariée à un certain Dominique. Le couple a quatre enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Amélie vit avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges de ménage. Pour ce faire, Amélie vend divers produits alimentaires (boîtes de conserves, pâtes alimentaires, sucre etc.) dans sa région. Dans le but de renforcer son activité et de satisfaire la demande de sa clientèle, Amélie ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe MAHUTIN sollicite un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Les prêts antérieurs ont été bien remboursés.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan
