A loan of $1,050 helped to buy cereals.

Kadiatou's story

Kadiatou was born around 1967 in Kolondieba, the administrative center of the municipality that bears the same name (Mali’s third-largest administrative region), and now lives there with her husband and three children in a nuclear family.

Kadiatou quickly became interested in profit-making activities, particularly the purchase and sale of cereals. She is highly sought-after at the market in Kolondièba, particularly on fair days. She has seven years of experience in this field, and is collaborating with Soro Yiriwaso to increase her working capital so that she can meet the demands of her ever-growing customer base. She is on her 10th loan with the institution, having successfully repaid her prior loans.

Kadiatou plans to use her loan to buy cereals. She gets her supplies from farmers in the neighboring villages, and makes her sales on a cash (and sometimes credit) basis to male customers in the market. Kadiatou hopes to make a monthly profit of 110,000 Francs CFA, which she will use to provide for her family, repay her loan, and reinvest in her business.
