A loan of $2,525 helped a member to purchase beads.

Ankadi Group's story

The six members of the ANKADI group are married women, aged 40 on average, and with six children on average. They mostly live in polygamous families in Sanoubougou, one of the most populous quarters of Sikasso, in the third largest administrative region of Mali. They are on their eighth loan with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance organisation, in order to satisfy their customers' needs. Mme Awa - on the far right - sells beads for a living. She aims to use her loan to buy beads from which she will make necklaces, and sell them in people's homes and in the large central market. She sells to a primarily female customer base, and takes cash sales. She aims to drive average monthly profits of 40,000 FCFA, a part of which will be used to repay her loan and its interest, and the rest will be put aside as savings.
