A loan of $3,000 helped to start up a pharmacy.

Svetlana's story

Svetlana is 49 years old. She lives with her school-age son and her grown daughter in the Khelvachauri district. Her daughter is a nurse at the local hospital and gets a monthly salary. Svetlana has a vocational education in medicine and has been running a pharmacy with her business partner for nearly three years.

To provide more income for the family, Svetlana decided to start her own pharmacy in a hired commercial space. The Start Up program, created by Kiva and Credo, enabled Svetlana to get a loan of 3,000 USD and start her business. With the received loan, she will purchase medicines, baby food products, and other products, and sell with a price mark-up. Svetlana hopes that the project will be profitable because there is not any other drugstore nearby. Svetlana is a very enthusiastic woman, with a great desire to provide her children with better living conditions. This loan will be a great support for the family, as Svetlana will be able to generate an income and improve the standard of living for her family members.
