Greetings from Pakistan! This is 41-year-old Iftikhar, from Lahore city. He is married, with five children. All his children attend the school in the morning and tuition class in the evening.

He has been making concrete slabs for many years. He makes slabs in different sizes for various purposes, such as for roofs, floors, and to cover graves.

He describes his efforts and procedures for making concrete blocks. He prepares a mixture of cement, sand, gypsum, and water and fills it under triangular frames to give a specific shape. He has been doing this work with fondness and spirit because its turnover is high.

Nowadays, he has gotten a huge contract for making slabs from a builder, but he does not have enough money to buy the raw material he needs. This is why he has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan, so he can buy the raw materials.

With the support of the lenders he will be able to complete the contract, which will cause an increase in his savings as well. He wants to provide his children with higher education and intends to save the profit for educational expenses in the future.

Iftikhar is very thankful to the Kiva and to its field partner BRAC Pakistan.
