Elsa Avelina's story

Elsa has been part of the communal bank Mujeres con Vision for the past 2 years. During this time she has formed some very good friendly relationships with all the other members of the group. She lives in the Llacao community in Cuenca city. This area is surrounded by much natural beauty, the people there are traditionalists and still jealously maintain the culture their parents instilled in them. Most work in agriculture, raising animals and commerce.

Elsa is 35 years old, she is married and the fruits of her marital union are 3 children of 13. 12 and 2 years of age. Her oldest daughter is in middle school and her second daughter studies in a small local school. Elsa's husband is a professional driver and he works driving heavy trucks. She owns the house where she lives.

For the past 3 years Elsa has been selling cosmetics for a living and she's doing very well. She also works raising chickens, cows, pigs and egg-laying hens but this agricultural work is only for her household's consumption.

She will use her new loan to purchase chickens, pigs and construction materials in order to improve her home. Her goal is to complete her house and to increase her business.
