Romen's story

Romen is a farmer from Mrgashat village of Armavir region. His family consists of his wife, his 17-year-old and 14-year-old sons, his brother, his brother's wife, and his brother's 17-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son. To be able to take care of his family, Romen seasonally migrates to Russia as a migrant laborer. His brother is also a migrant worker in Russia. They work hard to be able to meet the growing needs of their family. With the help of his family members, Romen is engaged in breeding livestock of cows, piglets, and hens, and in cultivation of greens and grapes. To be able to sustain the agribusiness, Romen currently wants to increase the livestock. A loan of USD 3,000 will help him reach his goal, enabling him to purchase two cows, two steers, and some forage for the livestock. As this is Romen’s first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative of Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products before, because they have no credit history. Romen and his big family will be very thankful to the lenders for their good will and support.
