A loan of $2,425 helped a member to purchase more chicks and local chickens.

Mango Group's story

Steven, who is a married man with six grown up children, has been managing his life by running several businesses, one is a charcoal selling business, a second is a poultry business where he grows broilers for sale and trades local chickens which he buys from others to resell. Steven is managing another business of fruits and vegetables- he owns a farm for some fruits and vegetable items which he sells. Steven, who is in his early seventies, works from 06:00am to 09:00pm every working day and is able to make a good monthly profit. This is Steven's fifth loan request from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used his previous loans to purchase more sacks of charcoal, fruits, and vegetables, and has paid back all his previous loans successfully. Steven used his business profit to cover household expenses and saved the remainder. He will use this loan to purchase more chicks and local chickens. Steven dreams of owning better working equipment and transportation. He will share this loan with his loan group "mango" which totals 6 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
