A loan of $850 helped to buy clothing, shoes, perfumes, costume jewelry, cosmetics, and lotions.

Elsa Mercedes's story

The “Siempre Unidas” communal bank meets every fifteen days in the cantón of Jipijapa, a cantón known by the name of the sultan of coffee because of the extensive plantations of coffee, which has an incomparable flavor, and for its food and the warmth of its people.

This is where Elsa lives. She is 39 years old. She is married and from this relationship she has three children who are 22, 21, and 18 years old. The oldest is studying at university and the youngest is in school. Both of them live with her. Her husband has a shop where he solders and paints cars.

Elsa, with the goal of having her own income, works selling products from catalogs, such as clothing, shoes, and Belcorp products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women’s accessories). She sells door to door and by orders. She works every day, especially in the morning hours since this is when it’s easier for her to go out and make her sales. She sells on credit and charges each week. She loves sales and she has been doing this for two years, during which time things have gone very well for her because she has a lot of customers. What she sells the most are cosmetics and perfumes.

She will use this loan to buy clothing, shoes, perfumes, costume jewelry, cosmetics, and lotions. She has been in the communal bank for 4 year and she likes it because it was with those loans that she started her business.

Her dream is to give the best to her children.
