A loan of $550 helped to purchase jewelry.

Gladys Nancy's story

The Siempre Unidas [Always United] Communal Bank meets twice a month in the Jipijapa Canton, which is called the Sultan of Coffee for the canton's extensive coffee crops and their unmatched flavor, the local cuisine, and the warmth of Jipijapa's people. This is where Doña Gladiz, aged 53, lives. She is married to the father of her three children, a teacher.

Doña Gladiz is a housewife who works selling jewelry in order to earn her own income and gain a sense of independence. Doña Gladiz sells all types of jewelry, such as chains, earrings, bracelets, rings, all made of the highest-quality gold. She sells the jewelry outside the home, but also hosts her most familiar customers at her home. Doña Gladiz's customers can buy on credit and she collects payments every eight days. She has over nine years experience selling jewelry and the business is doing well. Doña Gladiz's jewelry is delivered from Chordeleg, where artisans make the best jewelry in Ecuador, and where she sometimes goes to buy merchandise directly.

This loan is for the purchase of all types of jewelry. Doña Gladiz has been with the Communal Bank for two years and likes that payments are easy to make. Her ambition is to one day own a jewelry shop.
