Ishaka, Uganda / Retail

A loan of $475 helped to buy more items for his shop.

Dankani's story

Dunkani is 27 years old and the father of one.

He has a retail shop that he started in 2011 with a purpose of earning money from the shop to cater to the needs of his family. He works seven days in the week, and he dedicates eight hours to the retail business per day. The business is located in Ishaka town-Bushenyi District along one of the busy streets in town. In addition to the shop, Dankani has a motorcycle that he uses for "bodaboda," and this increases the income of the family.

He has applied for a loan of UGX 1,200,000, which he hopes to use to buy more stock to put in his shop. His clients are people around town and passengers who get out of different taxis and buses.

He hopes that in future he will acquire more motorcycles and will be able to get more money and hence cater to the needs of the family.

Dankani says his biggest challenges are the risky customers who take things on credit and never pay the money. He hopes to keep up the hard work spirit and achieve his set goals in life.
