Lilian Del Rocio's story

Every 15 days the communal bank "Para el Futuro de la Mujer" meets in the La Pila in the Montecristi Canton. It is a very well-known place in the province and country due to its rich traditional culture. There is a wide variety of crafts here made by the local people who follow traditional customs.

This is where Lilian, 46, lives. She is married and has two adult chldren, one of whom still lives at home. Her husband is the president of the Parish Board of Directors.

In order to help her husband with the household expenses, Lilian buys and sells ornaments and pottery. She has a shop on the main street where many people shop every day. She sells all kinds of crafts and works from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For over 20 years she has been in the business and it has gone well for her. She buys semi-finished crafts which she finishes and sells.

The loan is to buy a wider variety of different crafts for her business. She has been in the communal bank for over five years and enjoys it because the loans are of great help to her business.

Her goal is to continue prospering.
