A loan of $1,000 helped to buy a box of clothes from the U.S. and to rent a space at the central market.

Luz Argelia's story

Luz, 47, only studied until 2nd grade. She is the mother of two children and her husband is a builder. One of her children studies and the other works with his father.

She sells American clothing, a business which she has had for 2 years and which she learnt from a friend. Before this, she dedicated her time to housework. Now she takes the 15-minute bus ride into town, where she has her business. Her daughter helps her after classes and on occasions from 6 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

She is asking for a loan to buy a box of clothing, which is coming from the U.S. and she will rent a space in the central market. Thanks to the loan, she will be able to supply her business and her profits will improve so she can have a better life. Her earnings will allow her to continue developing her business.

Her dreams are to stock her business, pay for her daughter’s education and also improve her house (with an extension). She knows that she’ll only be able to fulfill her dreams if she continues to work hard, just as she has been doing up until now.
