A loan of $1,225 helped to buy supplies needed to prepare and fertilize her crops and to prepare land to cultivate.

Alba Del Carmen's story

Alba del Carmen is 51 years old. She is a single mother of five children. Three of them live outside the country. The two others live with her and are involved in all the field activities that are necessary for their coffee crops to remain in perfect condition. Alba del Carmen is a housewife and a farmer. She has a degree in Primary Education.

As the mother of a family and a hard-working, enterprising woman she ensures the well-being of her family. She also has a small store in her residence which generates some more income for the family. The land she works along with her children is hers. She got this through good management of her revenues and today she thanks God for the opportunity to have it. It is an eight minute walk from her house to the land.

Her present goal is to prepare a piece of land, which is now old-growth. She wants to replant it with young coffee plants in order to make the land more useful as the land is not producing the profits it should. To this end Alba del Carmen is requesting a loan to buy fertilizer, manure, foliar sprays, etc. which will be a great help in fertilizing her coffee plants and she will use another part of the loan to improve the land that is not in use.
