A loan of $1,000 helped to buy 15 sacks of fertilizer, foliar spray and labor for weeding.

José Saúl's story

José is 26 years old, studied up to the 6th grade, and has been in a relationship for three years. His wife works in the countryside at least 15 days per month, either in the sugarcane fields or the bananas.

The work that José does is agriculture. He started learning this work from his father at ten years of age. Since then, he has learned how to cultivate any variety of fruit tree, so he is eager to plant and see the fruits of his work. He made a living from this work because of a lack of opportunities for other work, whereas his crop is ½ kilometer from his house.

The loan requested from Fundación CAMPO is to buy 15 sacks of fertilizer, foliar spray and labor for weeding. José doesn't spray poison on the mountain; he only clears the growth under his fruit trees with a machete. This is how he wants to finish harvesting 7,000 square meters of plantains, which are four months old. He has gotten the plantation to that age with effort.

With the loan, there is a greater possibility that the foliage of his crop will remain in good condition, and he will fulfill the need to be able to fertilize his fruit tree plantation.

José's dream and that of his family is to have everything necessary to cultivate and fertilize his crops, and in the future to have to opportunity to buy some more things that are necessary for his home. He wants his daughter to have a better life and to send her to school. He intends to let her study until she becomes a professional; that is his vision.
