Kou's story

This is 35-year-old Kou from Airport, Margibi County, Liberia. This area has the largest rubber plantation in Liberia. She is unmarried and has four children, between the ages of 2 and 15 years old, who live at home. Three of her children attend school.

Her fiancée is a security guard. For the past 4 years she has been selling items (plantains, oil, etc.) in the local market. She started this business with little money from her fiancée and learned the ways of selling from her mother. Most often she used bus transportation to transport her goods. She likes the flow of her customers and enjoys the profits she makes. She is requesting a loan to purchase more plantains, oil, etc. for her business. Her dream is to see herself as an international businesswoman.
