A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase more items for his shop to sell,.

Robert's story

Robert is 39 years old and lives in the town of Mbale in the Mbale region of Uganda. He is married and has five children, with two of them currently in school. For the past two years, Robert has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells sugar, soap, and salt.

To help expand his business, Robert has requested a loan of UGX 3,000,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more items for the shop to sell. It will help Robert to generate greater profits and pay school fees for his children in better schools.

Robert hopes that in the future he will be able to build more rental houses.

Robert is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Robert who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
