A loan of $900 helped a member to buy more ingredients to make sweets for reselling.


Nim's Group's story

Nim is 56 years old and one of the breadwinners of her family consisting of five children. She is a villager from Pursat province. Her main sources of income are from sweet selling, maize farming, and her husband's occupation as a construction worker. She has been involved in these businesses for 15 years, earning about 30,000 KHR per day.

With VisionFund (Kiva’s partner), Nim is a fifth-time borrower. The positive impact of her past loan has enabled her to build a proper fence for her house and provided timely for support her business. Now, she teams up a group of three to get a new loan. The total amount of her entire group is 3,600,000 KHR, of which 1,400,000 KHR is her loan portion. As the leader, she will spend her entire loan portion to buy more ingredients to make sweets for reselling.

She hopes that she can make more money to set up a small grocery selling business in front of her front yard to earn addition income.
