A loan of $900 helped to buy fish and cosmetics.

Génesis Alexandra's story

The “María Del Carmen” communal bank meets every fifteen days in Montecristi Canton where the famous straw hats come from. It’s a cold climate city with many natural tourist attractions.

Génesis, 20, lives here. She’s in a common law relationship and has a two-year-old son. Her husband’s a fish merchant.

Génesis is a great wife and mother who takes out the loans to help her husband. He sells fish. To do so, he goes throughout the zone and nearby areas in his car offering his products. While her husband does this, she on her part sells cosmetics and provides manicures. She’s been in her activity for more than three years and her husband has been in his for much longer.

The loan will be used to buy fish and to buy the cosmetics she sells. She’s been in the communal bank more than two years and likes it because of the ease in getting the loans. Her dream is to continue forward and that her family lacks nothing.
