Maira Yecenia's story

Maria is 33 years old, a farmer, housewife, and mother of four children who all live with her and her husband. They support them with all their different daily activities related to raising coffee. She has a junior high school education and she was able to achieve this thanks to the efforts and her parents’ financial support. She is very grateful to them. She and her husband, who is an elementary school teacher, raise and harvest coffee and they work hard every day to get their children ahead, teach them the value of work, and good values such as respect and honesty. These are the principles that they use in their business to have good relationships with their customers. Her customers are intermediaries, shops, stores, family, and friends who live in the area or go there to acquire their product.

She is asking for a loan through the COMIXMUL cooperative so she can buy fertilizer (12 quintals of 18-46-0) and nine quintals of urea to protect and fertilize her corn, bean, and coffee crops. This way she can better help her crops.

Her plans for the future are to be able to raise a better variety of coffee, since they have their own farmland and good because of the local climate and soil. Her dream is to be able to provide a good education for her children so that they will have many options and opportunities in life.
