A loan of $2,325 helped a member buy fabric to make guipils (traditional Guatemalan skirts).

Las Margaritas Group's story

Maria is married, is 30 years old, and has 5 children (two of which are currently in school). She herself wasn't able to go to school. She works making guipils (traditional Guatemalan skirts). She started this business with her neighbor and has been doing it for 15 years.

She has organized a communal bank and is asking for a loan so she can buy fabric to make guipils. In the future, she wants to have a large traditional clothing store.

The other group members work in sales and also in handicrafts.
