A loan of $3,000 helped to purchase some feed for the livestock, wheat seeds to cultivate wheat, fuel for agricultural machinery, as well as to partially renovate the agricultural machinery.

Laura's story

Laura is from Voskehask Village in the Shirak Region. She lives with her husband, son, and elderly mother. She works in a hospital as a nurse, and her husband works in the private sector. Their salaries, however, are not enough to fully meet their needs.

Laura is engaged in breeding cows and piglets, and in beekeeping. Laura's husband and son help her greatly in everyday activities concerning beekeeping and livestock breeding. To sustain their agribusiness, the family needs a loan of 3,000 USD to purchase some feed for the livestock, wheat seeds to cultivate wheat, fuel for agricultural machinery, as well as to partially renovate the agricultural machinery.

Laura has previously taken a loan from a local financial institution, but, unfortunately, wasn't able to pay it back. Thanks to her hard work during recent times, however, Laura was able to run her agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that she will be able to cover the monthly payments. Thus, she has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products.

Laura and her family will be thankful to all the lenders for helping them to maintain their agribusiness.
