One of the breadwinners in a family consisting of seven children, Yi is 54 years old and a resident of the province of Takeo. To tackle the primary basic needs of the family, she does rice farming with support from her husband. She has been occupied with this business for ages, and it has returned to her almost $2.50 US per day.

Yi has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for ages. The positive impact of her past loans has enabled her to uplift her living conditions. Conditions are now better than before, and she has fully repaid the entire past loan already. Now she wants to pay attention to her son’s education, as her son wants to pursue a bachelor degree majoring in finance and banking. Therefore, she needs a new loan to pay for school fees for her son. She hopes that her son will get a good score in his study performance and get a good job after he graduates.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
