A loan of $775 helped to buy a solar panel for her house.

Rosa's story

Rosa’s an enterprising, 37-year-old woman who together with her husband and seven children works in agriculture specializing in growing coffee and basic grains. Her seven children help their parents do most of the field chores like weeding, grain picking, manure spreading, leaf fertilizing, etc. when they aren’t busy with school. She was unable to go to school in her youth because her parents had scarce economic resources so they taught her how to work the land to grow basic grains and others instead and this has been her parents’ source of income and now her family’s too. Her goal is to educate her children so that they will have better quality of life and a higher level of education.

At present, she’s asking for a loan to buy a solar panel for home that she’s wanted for some time now because the area where she lives has no electric power and she considers that in this day and age one must have one’s home lit. She has struggled for a long time now to do her domestic and everyday chores by candle or kerosene lamp or by burning pitch pine wood.

Her dream is to get up early in the morning and throw a switch that will light up her humble home. Also, her children will undergo a momentous change in that they will be able to study and do their homework during evening hours.
