A loan of $475 helped to buy agricultural supplies.

Ismael Antonio's story

Condega is a municipality known as the “Land of Potters” because of the crafts and its hardworking people. Ismael lives in an adjacent community with his wife and son who he must support and provide schooling for. His profession is agriculture; he grows basic grains like corn and beans and also raises livestock on a small scale.

Ismael is known as an honest, hardworking person. He has more than 8 years’ experience in these lines of work. He works with his family on a small, four-manzana [Central American unit of land measurement] farm that is highly productive. He wants to take full advantage of it exploiting it in one of the best lines of work, bean growing. He’s asking for a loan to buy manure, insecticide, fungicide and to pay labor costs.

He’s projecting 2.5 manzanas of bean production to sell once harvested earning enough income to repay the loan and cover his family’s expenses which will allow him to continue working new growing cycles and improve his family’s standard of living since this is his only source of income.
