A loan of $750 helped to buy ingredients to make food and soft-drinks to sell.

Maria Dolores's story

María, 42, is single due to widowhood. She lives in the municipality of Villanueva, Cortes, with her two children. She’s always been a businesswoman. She’s had a food and snack stall for ten years. She sells lunches, breakfasts, ‘baleadas’ [flour tortilla filled with eggs, cheese and beans], tacos, turnovers, soft-drinks, packaged snacks, cookies, etc.

She’s invested two previous loans and is currently asking for 15,000 Lempiras to buy ingredients like meat, condiments, flour, rice and vegetables to make the food and also to buy soft-drinks to sell aiming at increasing sales. Her plan is to stay in business to support and educate her children.
