Amal is a 44-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and three children who attend school. In 2000, and after seeing a need to get involved and help her husband to pay the expenses, Amal started to sell clothes from her home. She states that the revenue that she was earning was almost enough and that’s why in 2009, she started to work as a hairdresser as well. Today, Amal wants to concentrate on one profession; to do so, she looks forward to borrowing a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase clothes in large quantity to support her business and be able to attract more customers and increase her sales. As for her future plans, Amal intends to open a clothing store as soon as she can.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
