A loan of $800 helped to purchase a grill for making pupusas (stuffed tortillas) and a cow.

Joel Antonio's story

Joel is 35 years old; he is single and doesn’t have any children. He stayed in school until the 3rd grade. He lives with his mother but they are both independent.

Joel is a businessman. He works making sales from place to place. First he looks for a specific location where a festival will take place, and he travels to that spot. He sets up and stays during the festival (fair); sometimes he will be away from home for 3 weeks. Before this, he was employed, but he went out on his own and now has his own business. He has been doing this work for 8 years, and he has excellent results.

The loan will be used to purchase a grill for making pupusas (stuffed tortillas); the one that he has is in very bad condition. He will also buy a cow for his father, who is a cattleman that buys and sells cattle.

In the future, Joel hopes to have enough money to set up a fixed business in his house, and in this way build up his client base, so that he doesn’t have to go away from home and leave his mother by herself.
