A loan of $725 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Maria's story

María is 48 years old. She lives with her 3 children, who she cares for in the house that she inherited from her parents approximately 20 years ago. She works sowing diverse foods, such as potatoes, corn, and alfalfa to feed her animals. She says that at first she didn’t have many contacts, and although her crops were healthy, she had few buyers. Now she sells the majority of her harvests in the capital where she constantly travels. Now she hopes to improve her income. She is a woman who has worked in agriculture since she was a young girl, and she has all the knowledge she needs to get ahead. This is her second loan with KIVA. She is thankful for the opportunity to make progress, and she promises to be punctual in making her payments. María will invest the 2000 Peruvian Soles in buying organic fertilizer to nourish her crops.
