A loan of $525 helped to buy second-hand clothes.

Lucia Celia's story

Lucia’s from León, a place located in the western part of the country. She’s a single mother of adult children. She’s noted for being hardworking and responsible with a strong self-improvement drive. She’s struggled much in life in order to survive with her family. Sadly, due to the lack of economic resources she was unable to go to school and had to start working at a very young age to help with household expenses. Thanks to her effort and drive to move forward, her present economic activity is selling second-hand clothes at home. She spends about 10 hours daily selling her merchandise so that in the not too distant future her income will increase. The loan’s objective is to buy a bundle of good-quality children’s clothes so that in the not too distant future she’ll be able to earn higher income. Lucia is grateful for the support Kiva lenders provide to people of low income in poor countries like Nicaragua so they can have ways to earn a living with dignity.
