A loan of $725 helped to buy cheese at wholesale.

Ursula's story

Ursula, 58, is a very hardworking woman. She lives with her husband, Benedicto, with whom she has 10 children but only four of them still live with her in the house she inherited 20 years ago. Five years ago she started buying and selling cheese. She states that since then her life’s been better and she wants to get ahead.

She travels every two weeks to the nation’s capital to sell cheese she makes herself with milk her cows produce. In time, she acquired more customers so started buying cheese from other cattlemen. “I do very well in my business; I sell a lot of cheese and before I even get back to my town I already have more orders,” she affirms. She’d now like to buy another dairy cow to increase production and she wants to continue planting because she likes living in the countryside.

This is her second Kiva loan and she’s grateful for this progress opportunity and promises to be punctual with her payments. She enjoys being part of her association where they are all united and mutually supportive. Ursula will use the 2,000 soles to buy cheese at wholesale.
