A loan of $725 helped to buy animal feed.

Maria's story

María, 48, is a noble woman. She was widowed four years ago and since then has cared for her four children even though only two of them still live with her in the house she bought 20 years ago. “My work is planting crops and caring for animals. Since my husband died these are my main sources of income,” she affirms.

Her life is centered on hard work. Despite her needs she always provided good education for her children and they are now professionals. She owns 7 dairy cows that produce on average 48 liters of milk daily that she sells to a milk distributor. She also grows potatoes and corn on various parcels of farmland she owns in her community.

Now, she’d like to improve her cows’ milk production. This is her second Kiva loan and she’s grateful for this progress opportunity and promises to be punctual with her payments. María will use the 2,000 soles to buy nutritionally balanced animal feed.
