Clorinda's story

Clorinda, who is 48 years old, is married to Alfonso, with whom she has three children who are 14, 9, and 5 years old. They all live in their own home. Clorinda is a caring mother and a responsible wife. She has been working in farming since she was 22 years old. For this reason, she is confident in her skills as a woman working the fields. Her main crops are peas, broad beans, barley, corn, and gladiolus flowers. "The land is good where I live, which is why everything grows," she tells us. With her partner's support, they are able to cover all the work the land requires; but many times it is not enough and they have to hire help. She sells almost all of her produce at the wholesale market in Tarma. "I sell the peas, broad beans, and corn there almost instantly, but I take the gladiolus flowers to a different market," she tells us of her work. Currently, she plants to plant more peas and broad beans, taking advantage of the rains that are starting to fall this month. To do this she needs your financial support. This is her fifth loan with Kiva and during this entire time she has proven to be a responsible person who is dedicated to her communal bank. Clorinda will invest her 3,000 soles in organic fertilizer for her crops.
