A loan of $1,625 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Epifaneo's story

Sixty-seven-year-old Epifaneo is a widower. His wife died many years ago, which is why he was not able to have children. He lives in his own home, which he built with a lot of effort in a farming annex. He is a very strong man. His age is no impediment to his work in farming. This work is tiring for many people, but for this man it is a source of income, as he has spent his whole life in the field. His main crops are potatoes, peas, gladiolus flowers, and broad beans. The easiest crops to plant are the peas and the gladiolus flowers because they grow fast and require little investment. He almost always works alone. Because of this, he has horses and donkeys to help him transport his harvests. Sometimes during the harvest season he has to hire help. He hopes to continue with his work because he likes what he does. This time he will start a planting of peas and broad beans, which is why he is asking for help.

This is his third loan with Kiva and throughout this entire time he has proven himself to be a responsible person who is committed to his communal bank. Epifaneo will invest the 4,500 soles in organic fertilizer to treat his crops.
