A loan of $1,075 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Mercedes's story

Mercedes is 37 years old and married to Héctor, with whom she has three children. They all live in the house they built with effort eight years ago, which is located in an agricultural zone. Mercedes is a hard-working and responsible mother. Her business is agriculture. Her work is not easy and less so with her small daughter, but Mercedes is admirable and she strives to work the land. Thanks to this dedication she now owns her own land that she cultivates. On this land she plants large quantities of potatoes and peas, but she also cultivates corn, lima beans and gladiola flowers periodically. In addition, she has two bulls for the plow and two donkeys to carry her harvests. She and her husband are very content and happy, as they like to work in agriculture because it generates money at each harvest. She therefore believes in making progress through her crops, thus saving money to acquire more land and avoiding having to pay rental fees. Her immediate plans are to plant peas and potatoes; this is why she is asking for your support once again. This is her fifth loan with Kiva, and she feels grateful for the financial support she receives to get ahead. She also commits to making her payment in a punctual manner. Mercedes will invest the 3,000 Peruvian nuevos soles in the purchase of organic fertilizer to scatter among her crops.
