A loan of $2,000 helped to build a greenhouse.

Gohar's story

Gohar is an experienced agronomist from the village of Masis in the Ararat region. She lives with her husband and her son. To earn a living, Gohar is engaged in raising two pigs, and in cultivation of tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, alfalfa, and some fruits (peaches, apricots, plums, blood oranges and apples). Farming is the main source of income for the family.

Gohar's husband and son help her greatly in getting the agricultural produce to the local market. Gohar cultivates plants in two greenhouses. As their needs are growing day by day, she needs to enlarge her agricultural business a little bit, to meet the daily needs of her family more effectively. As this is Gogar's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative of Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products before, because they have no credit history.

A loan of USD 2000 will be a huge support to this hard-working woman and her family, enabling them to build another greenhouse and to develop their agricultural business further. The family will be very thankful to all the lenders for their good will and support in collecting the needed amount of the loan to develop their business.
