A loan of $725 helped to purchase a new embroidering machine and some fabrics.

Yacouba's story

Mr. Yacouba is 50 years old, married, and the father of five. He resides with his wife and his children in a large traditional extended family in Wayerema Zone, a suburb of Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After having run many businesses unsuccessfully, Mr. Yacouba became familiar with the business of sewing about 24 years ago. His sewing workshop is found in Wayerema Zone, where he already has six machines, that is, three for embroidering and three basic ones. He is much in demand by his customers for the quality of his services.

Concerned about better satisfying his burgeoning customer base, he decided to join the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso a few years ago. He is requesting this third individual loan to enable him to purchase an embroidering machine, two basic machines, and some fabrics to sew and then resell in order to meet ever-growing customer demands.

With this loan, he envisions making a monthly profit of 95,000 francs CFA that will be used to help cover family expenses, pay back the loan interest, and invest the remainder in his business.
