A loan of $1,000 helped to buy two milk cows.

Carlos Alberto's story

Carlos, who is 34 years old, is married and has three daughters, ages 9, 11, and 13. All are in school. On his part, he only went to school through high school. His wife is a vendor. She sells pupusas every afternoon. Four more people live with Carlos.

Since he was young, Carlos has worked the land. In the mornings he worked with his father, and in the afternoons he went to school. He also works the land now. He walks two kilometers to arrive at his parcel of land. He also cares for grazing animals, and every morning he milks two cows. Afterwards he goes to work in the field, and in the afternoon he returns with the animals.

The loan will be used to buy two milk cows. He hopes to be able to sell milk and then buy his own cattle to fatten. He hopes one day to see his daughters grown and with university degrees.
